Rae's comments

OK. So we're all trying to get used to this format. I can see you want the comments made as posts. Which is fine. So, for the record, Abby, see my comment re your book choice. Same to Beccy. From now on my "comments" will be posts. I get it, I really do!

Oliver Twist vs Great Expectations

I checked out Oliver Twist this week, along with Great Expectations. I was surprised to discover that they're the same length! So my excuse to put off Great Expectations based on length means nothing...I checked out both and actually think I'll try Great Expectations first, but I'm not sure how either will go. Aunt Rae, you read that one and really loved it right?

Beccy's Fiction Classic Read

I'm going to read The Enchanted April (even though it's for May) by Elizabeth von Arnim.

Okay now I feel silly

I just realized that the most recent comment is at the top and you already set it up the way you like . . . duh. Works great for me! I will decide on a book and post it tomorrow.

You decide!

I have zero blogging experience. Let's do it the way you think is simplest. I just know I like being able to read all the comments on one "page" before I respond. It looks to me like it is sort of already set up that way(?)

Abby's Fiction Classic Read

I really want to read Great Expectations but will have to save it for later. 544 pages is more than I can bite off in the middle of moving! I'm going to read Oliver Twist instead...does that count as an adult classic? It'll be my first taste of Charles Dickens -- amazingly enough!

Raehink's Fiction Classic Read

I'm going to read 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea because Bill wants to tackle it for his school reading. We'll do it together.

He's just finishing Tom Sawyer and has been enthralled with it. He asked me why Becky Thatcher is so mean to Tom!

Let's get started!

Let's get this group going!

We'll read fiction first and the genre will be classics. Pick an adult classic that you haven't read before and have always said you'd get around to...

We'll officially begin May 1. Let us know what you have chosen and then at the end of May (or before if you're done) report on your read. I suggest we alternate between fiction and non each month. Let's do biography/memoir in June.

Happy choosing!

Blogs vs Groups

Okay, so I just finished setting up a Yahoo Group for our book club, but I really prefer the way blogs are set up! If noone's opposed, let's try it this way. I've added your names as blog-authors so that we can all add posts. And if you want to post your message straight from your email, it can be sent to abigailbhanson.reading@blogger.com

With blogs, we can each add posts and then comment on each post or we could just add a post in response....I think I prefer adding a post in response to another post just because it deletes the process of opening up another window (which is what you have to do to view comments...). If we just respond back and forth via posts we can view everything on one page. What do you guys think?
